چکیده

The numerical integration of partial differential equations is a particularly difficult task, and there is no generally applicable method. In contrast to ordinary differential equations, the most natural explicit finite difference methods such as replacing differentials by forward, backward, or central finite differences often are numerically unstable, even in the limit of very small discretizations in space and time. For example, a necessary condition for stability is that the maximum speed at which information about the solution can be propagated by the numerical method must be always greater than the propagation velocity of the exact solution.

From Microscopic to Macroscopic Traffic Models

The paper presents a systematic derivation of macroscopic equations for freeway traffic flow from an Enskog-like kinetic approach. The resulting fluid-dynamic traffic equations for the spatial density, average velocity, and velocity variance of vehicles are compared to equations, which can be obtained from a microscopic force model of individual vehicle motion. Simulation results of the models ...

Kinetic Derivation of a Hamilton-jacobi Traffic Flow Model

Kinetic models for vehicular traffic are reviewed and considered from the point of view of deriving macroscopic equations. A derivation of the associated macroscopic traffic flow equations leads to different types of equations; in certain situations modified Aw-Rascle equations are obtained. On the other hand, for several choices of kinetic parameters new Hamilton-Jacobi type traffic equations ...

Computer Simulation of Equidxed Eutectic Solidifiction of Metals

In the present work, the solidification process was simulated in both macroscopic and microscopic scales. Two-dimensional heat transfer equation for conduction was applied for macroscopic modeling using enthalpy formulation and finite element method. In order to decrease execution time and/or memory capacity in finite analysis, skyline mathematical technique was adapted. The microenthalpy metho...

Stochastic Modeling and Simulation of Traffic Flow: Asymmetric Single Exclusion Process with Arrhenius look-ahead dynamics

A novel traffic flow model based on stochastic microscopic dynamics is introduced and analyzed. Vehicles advance based on the energy profile of their surrounding traffic implementing the “look-ahead” rule and following an underlying asymmetric exclusion process with Arrhenius spin-exchange dynamics. Monte Carlo simulations produce numerical solutions of the microscopic traffic model. Fluctuatio...

Adaptive Online Traffic Flow Prediction Using Aggregated Neuro Fuzzy Approach

Short term prediction of traffic flow is one of the most essential elements of all proactive traffic control systems. Although various methodologies have been applied to forecast traffic parameters, several researchers have showed that compared with the individual methods, hybrid methods provide more accurate results . These results made the hybrid tools and approaches a more common method for ...
